FINISHED 1869 yeah! well the first part anyway from the newspapers.
Will be volunteering at the central library in the bookstore, on friday 18th and tues 29th afternoons 2-4.
My dishwasher which is brand new, 6 months old. has issues. I think it's a electrical contact maybe? maybe it doesn't recognize the door closing? not a clue, once a week it goes on strike.
Have to wait a week for repair persons.

THERE IS  site that maybe old but its been recently discovered, the astor site.http://www.jstor.org/pss/1916273

Mrs. Russell S. Barrett copied them from the Norfolk County records which from this time period are Kept in Chesapeake.

The website you mentioned below COPIED the records from a book called Virginia Vital Records which was published in 1982 which copied them from

MARRIAGE BONDS OF NORFOLK COUNTY BY MRS. RUSSELL S. BARRETT, FROM THE WILLIAM AND MARY college QUARTERLY historical magazine 2ND SERIES VOLUME 8 (1928) PAGES 99-110 AND 168-186. AND VOLUME 9 (1929) PAGES 34-48 AND 134-143 AND VOLUME 10 (1930) PAGES 123-141

I have been speaking to Dean Burgess the author of the HISTORY OF PORTSMOUTH by Mildred Holladay and Dead Burges.
This really one of the best local history books I have come across thus far.

I am communicating with him to clear up some confusion I have.

I am transcribing newspaper marriages and obits for the site for free for others for free.

the local paper lists Marriages under

COURT OF HUSTINGS- which in today's world is PORTSMOUTH

NORFOLK COUNTY - this into day's world i'm going out on a limb to say the city of chesapeake today.

NORFOLK CITY- WHICH in today's world is just what it is the city of norfolk

And then there is the briefly mentioned PRINCESS ANNE COUNTY which merged with CITY OF Virginia Beach.
those are the one set of records, that are all in the same place, no worries here.

ANYONE want to hike it into Portsmouth with me? I'm hearing about really good info being avail over there.

Someone asked me for a will today.

Just like that. So tell me how would you answer that question? I'm looking for a will.

Would you get mad or fustrated if I asked you

TIME FRAME?
STATE
COUNTY?

OR would it better if i just said, all wills are filed in the clerks office?

I know it's a rare occurence but I so enjoy it when someone says:

I am looking for additional information on John doe from the nyvagenealogy.homestead.com website page vd1710 or mva1710. for the county of princess anne.

See now I know what you are talking about and to pull out the princess anne county book to find the will to get you the additional info.

To the person who asks for more info on John Doe, sorry, most times i just ignore these emails.

I don't know why people expect me to be able to read minds, just don't understand it.

IMPORTANT WEBSITES ARE:

1. SEE MY HINTS PAGE FOR RESEARCH HINTS.

2. If u find something on one of the websites and would like more info. Make sure you tell me WHICH WEBSITE

OR

http://www.rootsweb.com/~vanorfol/

OR

http://www.rootsweb.com/~vaprinc2/

AND make sure you tell me which page of that website u found the
info on and if it is this one, then please tell me which state or county also.

Keep in mind I am not a mind reader...............
So if u ask about Jane Doe with out any thing info. Then expect me to ask questions, which state, which website etc.

For faster response include important items but don't give me the entire family tree either.
