MRS. H.E. ELAM LEFT YESTERDAY FOR RICHMOND, WHERE SHE WILL VISIT HER ILL RELATIVE, MISS MARY DUNN.
YESTERDAY AFTERNOON MR. FRANK WYATT MET WITH A PAINFUL ACCIDENT. WHILE GETTING OUT OF HIS WAGON HE SLIPPED AND FELL, HURTING HIMSELF QUITE BADLY. HE WAS PUT BACK IN THE WAGON AND WAS CARRIED BACK TO HIS HOME, WHERE PROPER ATTENTION WAS GIVEN HIM. HE WILL BE ALL RIGHT IN A FEW DAYS.
THE FUNERAL OF MR. A.B. OWENS TOOK PLACE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON FROM HIS LATE RESIDENCE, NO 115 COURT STREET. THE SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED BY REV. MR. SIMPSON, AS ASSISTED BY REV. MR. WEBB. AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE SERVICES THE REMAINS WERE TAKEN TO OAK GROVE CEMETERY, FOLLOWED BY STONEWALL CAMP, CONFEDERATE VETERANS, ATLANTIC LODGE, K. ANNIE L. COGGIN AGED 22 YEARS, DAUGHTER OF WILLIAM COGGIN, THE WELL KNOWN PEANUT VENDER, WHO HAS KEPT THE STAND AT THE POST OFFICE FOR SO MANY YEARS, DIED YESTERDAY AFTER CONSIDERABLE SUFFERING FROM ASTHMA.
SHE WAS A STRICT MEMBER OF ZION'S BAPTIST CHURCH AND BORE HER SICKNESS WITH THAT FORTITUDE KNOWN ONLY TO A CHRISTIAN. THE FUNERAL WILL TAKE PLACE THIS AFTERNOON AT 3PM. FROM ZION'S BAPTIST CHURCH.

CAPT. SAMUEL STEVENS, ONE OF PETERSBURG'S Best known and most prominent citizens, died very suddenly this afternoon. Before the war the deceased was largely engaged in the crockery business here. He was once president of the CITY POINT RAILROAD: He was at one time cashier of the FIRST NATIONAL BANK, WHICH FAILED IN 1873, AND AT ANOTHER TIME WAS CASHIER OF THE BANK OF PETERSBURG; HE CARRIED A LIFE INSURANCE OF $10,000.
THE REMAINS OF MISS MAY DUNN, Who expired yesterday morning in RICHMOND, were brought to SUFFOLK, her former home, last night on the 8:08 TRAIN. MISS DUNN Was the only daughter of MR. S.R. DUNN A Former resident of SUFFOLK and an insurance man....HER FUNERAL WILL TAKE PLACE THIS TODAY AT 11AM. FROM THE ST. PAUL'S P.E. CHURCH after which the interment will take place in CEDAR HILL CEMETERY.

Yesterday morning the body of a white man was found in a house on the SHELL ROAD near the deep creek toll gate, which was recently occupied by MOLLIE TAYLOR. His neck was all laid up in a corner as though he had fallen there and could not get up. DR. TRUETT, COUNTY CORONER, ws notified and summoned the following JURY. J.W. RUTTER, FOREMAN WILLIAM T. WHITEHURST, JEROME HODGES, J.T. HODGES, J.E. HUYBERT, W.H. MC WILLIAMS. A number of witnesses were examined who stated that the man's name was JONATHAN SHIELDS, Who was recently discharged from the UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS on the account of a disability, and who had been on protrcted spree for some time and was known to be subject to fits while under the influence of liquor. MRS. WOODWARD was born in this city MAY 25, 1858 AND MARRIED DR. J. H. WOODWARD OF BURLINGTON VA. ABOUT 1883. AND IN HER RESIDENCE at the north made many warm friends who loved for for the affectionate disposition and the noble qualities which endeared her to all who were privileged to know her. Her father and distant husband have the sympathy of their friends in this city.
