I will be posting just the Men from Virginia Here

I hope one day to be able to trace some of the family trees and one day putting a plaque or if there are donors a small monument to the African Americans who participated in the American Revolution.
So there are 287 African Americans who participated in the revolutionary war.

Several didn't have last names and those were slaves of George Washington.

There are 98 who I consider traceable as they have land grants and pensions etc.

out of the 98,

8 are registered as Ancestors of the Daughters of the American Revolution

5 are registered as Ancestors of the Sons of the American Revolution

Then there are 6 whom I consider "local"

Local to me is men from Princess Anne County, Portsmouth, Norfolk Area of the State

And these men would be the best option to talk one of the about organizations into honoring with a plaque in one of the local cemeteries.

So if you can trace your ancestry to:

NATHANIEL ANDERSON from PAC.

ARCHER EVANS from PORTSMOUTH

CHARLES CUFFY from PAC

WILLIAM FLORA/FLOREY famous for the battle of greatbridge / Norfolk County

JAMES THOMAS from NORFOLK

AND

The Gentleman that got me started on this mission

WILLIAM BOUSH the African American NAVY

not to be mistaken for WILLIAM BOUSH the rich land owner who gave Cattle to the Cause.

additional names will be posted soon!
