There are some commonly asked questions that drive me crazy.
I know I'm supposed to have patience but gee wiz, it's answered almost every single day on the rootsweb mailing list you'd think people would already know them.
It's in conjunction with my major pet peeve, people are either too cheap or don't have the funds for genealogy so they expect others to do things for free.
Now one of the main reasons for this website was to assist others who live out of state to be able to access some Virginia resources that you can not find online. AND DO IT FOR FREE!
Ok, first of all.
NORFOLK COUNTY TODAY IS THE CITY OF NORFOLK.
keep in mind i mean within the last 50 years. Before that is a longer story and can be found on the rootsweb norfolk site or va shorts on this site.
The vital record link is www.vitalrec.com
DON'T PUT AN "S" on the end of recs you will get a completely different site.
put the STATE AT THE END
www.vitalrec.com/va.html
www.vitalrec.com/ny.html
etc.
The other big pet peeve is obits.
I boxed up 90% of my newspapers recently due to lack of interest.
then i get tons of inquriries go figure.
but anyway the major obit newspaper since 1948 is NEWSDAY.
